Seattle Sounders vs St Louis City: Where to watch the match online, live stream, TV channels & kick-off time

Here's where you can watch Seattle Sounders vs St Louis City in MLS on TV or stream live.

Seattle Sounders welcome St. Louis City to Lumen Field for the first time on Saturday in an improbable battle for first place.

Sounders are two points behind St Louis in the Western Conference after defeating Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1, while St Louis suffered their first-ever loss in an MLS regular season game last weekend, losing 1-0 to Minnesota United.

Six games into the new season, and it appears that the Seattle club from earlier in the decade is back, with the Rave Green having accrued 13 of a possible 18 points so far. They continued to dominate Galaxy on the road in Los Angeles, extending their unbeaten streak against them to 10 games and becoming the first team in MLS history to do so.

It was also a historic night for Brian Schmetzer, who in just 212 games managed to record 100 regular-season victories (excluding shootouts), breaking the previous record of 215 games held by Bob Bradley and Bruce Arena.

Nothing lasts forever, as St. Louis City learned in their most recent game when their remarkable early run came to an end against the Loons at home. The expansion team's first goal conceded in nearly 350 minutes came in the 78th minute through a penalty kick from Luis Amarilla, and they also failed to score for the first time this season.

Bradley Carnell and his team may have suffered a brief setback as a result of that defeat, but there are still plenty of positive aspects to their current situation. For instance, St. Louis still has the highest goal differential in the league (+10) and is still in first place in the standings for the Supporters' Shield with 15 points.

GOAL brings you everything you need to know about where to watch the game on TV and stream live online.

Australia caught cold by Haddin's drop

Josh Hazlewood has admitted Australia’s bowlers did not respond well to the unexpected sight of Brad Haddin dropping Joe Root on the first day of the Investec Ashes series

Daniel Brettig08-Jul-2015Josh Hazlewood has admitted Australia’s bowlers did not respond well to the unexpected sight of Brad Haddin dropping Joe Root on the first day of the Investec Ashes series, granting England’s No. 5 an opportunity to wrest control of the day after an unpromising start.Had Root been dismissed for a second-ball duck by Mitchell Starc, England would have been 43 for 4 in the hour before lunch, but Haddin’s drop of a half-volleyed edge allowed him and Gary Ballance to establish a bridgehead with a series of counterpunches that threw the Australians off balance. After a Test series in the West Indies where the tourists held just about every chance that came their way, Hazlewood said they needed to be more focused in the aftermath of a miss. “I don’t think we’re used to dropping catches at the moment, and hopefully we don’t,” he said. “But in that situation I think we’ve got to deal with it better and keep bowling those balls in the right areas and creating those opportunities.”Those ones are always tough. More than often it actually is a catch, I think you can see by the way it flies off the bat. They’re really tough those full ones, and Hadds usually takes more than he drops, so hopefully he can improve and catch the next one.”While Hazlewood bowled decently in his first Ashes match, the more experienced Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc leaked runs as Root and Ballance change the course of the day. “I think they bowled well in patches, they’re both attacking bowlers so they can go for runs on different occasions,” Hazlewood said of the two left-armers. But they certainly created quite a lot of opportunities and hopefully we can take them next time.”The conditions suited us in that first hour and we probably made the most of it there, but we didn’t stick to our guns I guess for the next couple of sessions. We built pressure and then leaked the runs and the pressure went away. But I think we got better throughout the day.”Starc left the field late in the day and was unable to take the second new ball, and it later emerged that he had complained of ankle soreness. He will be treated overnight. For his part, Root said he had responded to the circumstances with calculated aggression, taking that gamble that by putting pressure back onto Australia’s bowlers, life would be made easier for England’s batsmen. So it was to prove.”I think whenever you get the opportunity to put a side back under pressure or try and shift that momentum, you’ve got to try and take it,” Root said after making 134. “There will be times when it doesn’t work, when it doesn’t quite come off and you look slightly stupid or you play what looks like a horrendous shot and get out. But they’re the sorts of risks we’re taking by playing this positive, attacking cricket.”At the minute it’s working really nicely, I’m sure it won’t always be like that, but we want to continue to do that and really put sides under pressure whenever we can.”

Belief is the biggest gain – Mashrafe

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza has said the major gain from the 2016 World T20 was the belief within the team that they can win in this format

Mohammad Isam27-Mar-2016Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza has said the major gain from the 2016 World T20 was the belief within the team that they can win in this format. The Bangladesh squad arrived in Dhaka on Sunday following their 75-run defeat to New Zealand in Kolkata the previous evening, their last game of the tournament.Having made it to the Super 10s stage, Bangladesh did not win any of their Group 2 games. It was a disappointing result after having reached the final of the preceding Asia Cup with wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan for the first time in Twenty20 cricket.”I don’t think anyone would be interested to take positives but there were some in this tournament,” Mashrafe said. “I think we were able to create a base for the T20 team. It was important for the players to develop a mindset for this format. It will be hard to beat us in this format from now on. I think it is crucial to have the belief whether you can win or not. Previously in T20s, we didn’t believe we could beat any team.”Bangladesh’s results were not different from the 2014 World T20, where they also made it through the first round but then lost all their games in the main draw. The difference lay in the margins – this time Bangladesh ran Australia close, and then lost a chase to India by one run after losing three wickets off the last three balls of the match.Their campaign was also hit by the bowling bans slapped on fast bowler Taskin Ahmed and spinner Arafat Sunny.Mashrafe revealed the team management had asked the BCB to see if Taskin could bowl if he didn’t bowl bouncers during the World T20.”If I speak specifically, then I can say that we accepted Sunny’s report. He has also accepted that he has to correct his action,” Mashrafe said. “Taskin’s was quite shocking. Everyone has said it, not just us. A lot of experts have agreed that there’s nothing wrong with Taskin’s bowling action. But there’s always a doubt since he has been pulled up.”Different questions come to mind when you see that his normal deliveries were fine but had problems with three bouncers. We even told the BCB that perhaps we can have him if he doesn’t bowl the bouncer. But at the end of the day that didn’t happen.”The issue of Nasir Hossain’s continued exclusion from the final XI despite being in the original squad became contentious towards the end of Bangladesh’s tournament. Shuvagata Hom was preferred after he replaced Taskin ahead of the Australia game, but it was hard to understand why Nasir was chosen in the first place when the management ultimately went for the replacement player.”These decisions are not taken by one person. We do it together,” Mashrafe said. “The combination prevented us from playing Nasir but he could have played. But the collective decision went against him. I backed Nasir in the 2015 World Cup. He is a useful cricketer. I want him to improve in his game and serve Bangladesh for a long time.”

Rain denies RCB chance to clinch No.2 spot

O’Brien: RCB may have fancied their chances

Quinton de Kock sped away at the start and JP Duminy controlled the middle overs to send Delhi Daredevils to 187 for 5, before rain in Bangalore washed the game out. The no-result left Royal Challengers Bangalore on 16 points. Having only won seven games so far, they will need another no-result in the final league game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians to finish in the top two.Karthik fined 20% of match fee

Dinesh Karthik has been fined 20% of his match fee for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. Match referee Roshan Mahanama found Karthik guilty of a Level 1 offence of conduct “contrary to the spirit of the game”.

De Kock prospered in the arc between cover and deep midwicket to finish with 69 off 39. Having made most of his runs square of the wicket, Duminy remained unbeaten on 67 off 43, to put the finishing touches on a score that seemed daunting on a dry Chinnaswamy deck.Harshal Patel would finish with the innings’ best figures of 2 for 30, but it was in his first over – the innings’ third – that de Kock began his surge. He drilled Harshal’s first ball to the straight boundary, then two deliveries later, slapped him behind point to collect another four. Ashok Dinda received similar treatment next over before Shreyas Iyer began to open his arms as well, soon carving a six over point off Mitchell Starc. The openers made 54 from the Powerplay overs before Iyer was out cracking a ball straight to backward point. De Kock laid low for two overs then began to attack again in the ninth over. Davide Wiese was launched over long on, creamed down the ground, and slapped to midwicket off consecutive balls as de Kock raised his half-century in 30 deliveries. He hit two more straight sixes and an edged four off Dinda before the introduction of Yuzvendra Chahal’s legspin cut his innings short. Virat Kohli trekked back from cover to complete the catch.Duminy walloped successive legside sixes in Chahal’s 14th over, which went for 18 runs, but tempered his advance when three quick wickets fell. The attack resumed in Harshal’s 19th over, after Duminy had reached 50 off 35 balls. That over disappeared for 16, with Saurabh Tiwary adding a six to the two fours Duminy struck.Royal Challengers hit two runs in 1.1 overs before the rains came. They ceased for long enough for the umpires to reschedule a start just after 7pm, but a second bout of bad weather ended hopes of play.

Milne out of Dunedin double; Malinga still missing for SL

Sri Lanka are playing a double-header in Dunedin and need victory in both games to have a chance of winning the series against New Zealand

The Preview by George Binoy22-Jan-2015Match factsFriday, January 23, 2015
Start time 1100 local (2200 GMT, previous day)Adam Milne is likely to return to New Zealand’s XI for the final game of the series•Getty ImagesBig PictureFrom Nelson at the top of New Zealand’s South Island, the teams have travelled to Dunedin on the south east coast, the southernmost venue to have hosted a men’s ODI and where Sri Lanka will take on Afghanistan in a World Cup game exactly a month from now. Sri Lanka are playing a double-header in the space of three days at University Oval and need victory in both games to have a chance of winning the seven-match series against New Zealand.Angelo Mathews’ team is trailing 1-2 after losing the fourth ODI by four wickets, a performance that exacerbated a budding trend in this series. For their runs in these limited-overs games, Sri Lanka have been familiarly dependent on the old guard of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. The trio has scored 522 runs in nine innings while the rest of the Sri Lankans, in 19 innings, are well short of Jayawardene’s personal tally of 225.The hosts have a healthier distribution, with the vanguard of Kane Williamson and Brendon McCullum receiving appropriate back up from the rest of the batting order. But while the poles that hold up the frame of New Zealand’s Big Top are in place ahead of the World Cup, they are still sorting through which tent pegs will provide the firmest grounding. Can Grant Elliott produce results as a top-five batsman who is expected to bowl too? If not, does Tom Latham fit in to the XI? And fitness permitting, which of their many quicks are first choice to play along side Tim Southee?Form guide(last five completed matches, most recent first)

In the spotlightIt’s early in the New Year but Angelo Mathews’ 2015 has not begun as productively as 2014 finished. He had a poor Test in Wellington and has 54 runs in three ODIs. This is his first tour of New Zealand and Sri Lanka will hope Mathews finds his touch because they play three World Cup group matches in this country and depend on him for a forceful finish to the innings.Ross Taylor’s home summer has not started well either. In four Test innings and three ODIs against Sri Lanka, he has four single-digit scores and hasn’t passed 40. Coming off an injury layoff, Taylor had a productive tour of the UAE, though, so New Zealand will look to him to find form quickly as one of their three pillars in the batting order.Team newsNew Zealand coach Mike Hesson ruled out Adam Milne from both the ODIs in Dunedin after the fast bowler picked up a side strain in the previous game in Nelson. Hesson said the injury was not serious and said Milne would return for the final match of the series. Rossington counterattacks after Miles best

Adam Rossington underpinned Northamptonshire’s efforts with a fine 95 to help them reach 333 all out against Gloucestershire

Press Association12-Apr-2015
ScorecardAdam Rossington made the switch from Middlesex to Northants initially on loan last season•Getty ImagesAdam Rossington underpinned Northamptonshire’s efforts with a fine 95 to help them reach 333 all out against Gloucestershire. Rossington arrived at the crease with the hosts on 132 for 4, but his 98-ball knock, with 16 fours and a six propelled Northants towards their decent total. The visitors had Craig Miles to thank for a career-best 6 for 63, while Gareth Roderick’s six catches equalled the Gloucestershire record for dismissals by a wicketkeeper in an innings.Put in by Geraint Jones in his first match as Gloucestershire captain, Northamptonshire enjoyed a profitable opening hour although Stephen Peters was dropped in James Fuller’s third over by Hamish Marshall.Richard Levi showed the early dominance they enjoyed as he clipped Liam Norwell for two leg-side sixes in his opening over. The pair put on 59 for the first wicket until Levi edged to Roderick down the leg side off Miles’ first delivery for 29.Peters departed in the following over for 27 and when Rob Newton fell cheaply, Northants had lost three wickets inside 26 balls for five runs. New four-day captain Alex Wakely and Rob Keogh steadied the innings to Northants at 89 for 3 at lunch. In all, they added 58 for the fourth wicket before New Zealander Kieran Noema-Barnett removed Keogh for his first wicket in Gloucestershire colours. Two more wickets soon followed – Wakely for 31 and new recruit Josh Cobb for a second-ball duck – to leave Northants on 162 for 6 and the visitors on top. But this was the point where Rossington and new vice-captain David Willey threatened to take the game away from Gloucestershire. In 12 overs before tea, the pair blasted 82 runs with Rossington – signed from Middlesex on a permanent deal in the winter – particularly quick on anything short. Willey began cautiously as if inspired by his new role, but the England Lions allrounder quickened noticeably with 14 taken off one Norwell over.Northants were 244 for 6 at tea and the pair threatened similar in the evening session. Having added 127 for the seventh wicket, Willey was caught behind for 62 off 57 balls and then Rossington was left five short off his third first-class century when he mistimed to Roderick off Miles for his sixth catch. The 23-year-old would take no more catches but knew of the record now shared by seven wicketkeepers. It was only appropriate that Miles returned to remove the final batsman Azharullah for 8, having outshone every other bowler”I was aware I was on the verge of breaking a club record and I was really hoping the elusive seventh wicket would come my way,” Roderick said. “Overall, we hit the deck hard at times, but we allowed them to get around 80 runs.”With Northamptonshire 333 all out, Will Tavare and Chris Dent calmly negotiated 6.3 overs before bad light intervened to leave this game finely poised, but Rossington believes Northants are in a useful position. “It was extremely windy out there but once you got used to the conditions, it was a good pitch to bat on,” he said. “We lost wickets in clusters and that was disappointing but a couple of partnerships have put us in a strong position and if we hit the deck hard first thing on Monday, we’ll be looking to get them out for under 300.”

Fresh squad gives Chigumbura hope

Elton Chigumbura, the Zimbabwe captain, insisted that his team is in good spirits despite the 3-0 loss in the Tests to Bangladesh and a defeat in the practice match ahead of the five-ODI series

Mohammad Isam20-Nov-2014Elton Chigumbura, the Zimbabwe captain, insisted that his team is in good spirits despite the 3-0 loss in the Test series to Bangladesh and a resounding defeat in their lone practice match ahead of the five-ODI series. The addition of four new players – Solomon Mire, Peter Moor, Neville Madziva and Timycen Maruma – has given the squad a fresh look, which Chigumbura feels will be handy. Malcolm Waller and Natsai M’shangwe, who were originally part of the squad for the ODIs, have gone back home. As have Wellington Masakadza and Brian Chari, who were around for the Tests.”The morale is good,” Chigumbura said. “The other guys from Zimbabwe joined us two days ago. They can’t wait for the first game. They are still fresh and also it is now a new version. Everyone is looking forward to the first game tomorrow.”We will be looking to start well. I know the Test matches didn’t go the way we wanted to, but that’s in the past now. We have to focus on these five games coming up. And [with] the new guys who came here, we are looking forward to the one-dayers.Chigumbura’s confidence stems from the fact that Zimbabwe do indeed play ODIs better than Tests. Their victory over Australia in August illustrated the strength of their fielding unit, and if the batting and bowling departments combine well, they can surprise top-flight teams.”The guys are capable of producing good results in the one-day team,” Chigumbura said. “We play more one-day cricket than Tests. It is a big chance now playing the one-day matches, close to the World Cup as well.”He was confident the toss wouldn’t be vital, but the fact remains that the team that wins it in Chittagong would have an advantage considering the dew that could set in during the evening.”At the end of the day, the team that wins puts more runs on the board,” Chigumbura said. “Dew may be a factor but it comes down to skill and if you can bowl in those conditions, I don’t think it will be a factor. At the end of the day it depends on the team that puts a better performance. With the dew factor, obviously the ball will skid more. It is about the skill now and also the day as to who is hungry enough to win the game.”
