WHAT NEXT FOR GUARDIOLA?
Having won just one of their last 12 matches, Guardiola's side will be desperate for the three points when they meet Everton on December 26.
After losing Crysencio Summerville just a week before the Championship campaign gets underway, Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing another Dutch winger.
Leeds transfer news
Summerville's exit couldn't have been poorer timed with Leeds' opening day clash against Portsmouth just a week away. Having suffered playoff heartbreak last time out, the Whites will be desperate to secure a return to the Premier League this season, but will have to do so without both Archie Gray and their aforementioned talisman.
Left with the undoubtedly difficult task of replacing Summerville within the next few weeks before the summer transfer window slams shut, those at Elland Road will be scrambling for options and have reportedly turned their attention towards the Eredivisie in an attempt to solve their problem.
According to Sander Janssen of Voetbal International, Leeds are now interested in signing Sontje Hansen from NEC Nijmegen this summer, but face competition from League One side Birmingham City. A former Ajax winger, Jannsen could yet emerge to step into the void left behind by his fellow Dutchman this summer.
"Special" Hansen could replace Summerville
Swapping one Dutch star for another could certainly be a place to start for those in Yorkshire and a deeper dive into Hansen indicates that he could quickly prove to be quite the coup for Leeds, should they make their move this month. The right-winger left Ajax last summer but has since shown glimpses of his best at Nijmegen, scoring six goals and assisting a further four in the Eredivisie last season.
Sonte Hansen for the Netherlands.
The potential for more is certainly there too, given the previous praise of former Netherlands U17 coach Peter van der Veen, who said via The Athletic: "You can see with your own eyes that he is special. He can play as a striker, on either wing, and as a No 10. He’s just on fire at the moment, and hopefully he will keep it up. It’s still a long road ahead but he has all the talent to become a really top player.”
That ability to also play through the middle mirrors that of Summerville, who proved to be quite the talisman for Daniel Farke throughout the last campaign. Of course, Hansen is yet to be a player at the new West Ham man's level, but an opportunity in the Championship has all the potential to turn him into a piece of transfer genius at Elland Road.

Hansen, 22, may not have managed the same numbers as Summerville, but the fact he outperformed his expected goals by a similar figure is a positive sign that Leeds are certainly looking in the right direction this summer.

A tendência é ficar.

Two T20Is in Karachi, in first visit for 16 years, will form part of T20 World Cup build-up
ESPNcricinfo staff18-Nov-2020England’s men’s team will make their first visit to Pakistan in 16 years when they play two T20Is in Karachi on October 14 and 15, 2021.As reported by ESPNcricinfo earlier this week, England’s plans for a short stop-over in January had to be shelved due to a lack of space in a crowded itinerary, with England also due to tour Sri Lanka and India in the first months of 2021, and with several players committed to T20I franchise deals during the same period. But following talks between the ECB and PCB, it has now been agreed that England will fit in the visit as part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup in India next year. The squad will arrive in Karachi on October 12, and both teams will depart for India on October 16 for the start of a tournament that is expected to culminate in mid-November.England last toured Pakistan in 2005 when they played three Tests and five ODIs. The subsequent series between the two sides in 2012 and 2015 were played in the United Arab Emirates.Tom Harrison, the ECB’s chief executive, said: “It’s a real pleasure to announce that the England men’s IT20 squad will be playing in Pakistan in October 2021. This will be the first time since 2005 that an England team has toured Pakistan and as such it represents a significant moment for both nations.”As was demonstrated this summer, we have a strong relationship with PCB and ECB is delighted to be able to play our part in ensuring the safe return of international cricket to this wonderful nation of passionate cricket fans.”As always, the safety and welfare of our players and staff will be paramount. We are working closely with the PCB to ensure all the necessary plans are in place, especially concerning the anticipated levels of security around the team, the proposed travel protocols and of course the situation regarding the fast-moving and ever-changing COVID-19 pandemic.”The two-match series will serve as ideal preparation for the England team leading into an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup taking place in India during October and November 2021.”England had already been scheduled to play a Test series in Pakistan in late 2022, but the PCB had expressed their desire for a visit sooner than that to show the ECB’s support for the return of international cricket to the country. With Pakistan’s players having endured less than perfect conditions in helping England fulfil their international fixtures in 2020, there was a sense that the ECB owed Pakistan a reciprocal favour. The ECB subsequently confirmed that a white-ball tour of Bangladesh in the same period is expected to go ahead as planned.Wasim Khan, PCB Chief Executive, added: “I am delighted to confirm that England will be touring Pakistan to play two T20s in October 2021. This will be their first visit to Pakistan for 16 years and will open the door for both Test and White Ball tours in the 2022-23 season.”The full-strength England squad will arrive at the back-end of our home white-ball series against New Zealand. We also expect Australia to visit Pakistan for their FTP commitment in early 2022, with England returning for both Test and White Ball tours in the 2022-23 season.”The October 2021 T20Is will allow the leading England cricketers to access and examine the world-class arrangements we will put together, which will give them further encouragement and confidence to not only return in 2022-23 but also express their interest in the Pakistan Super League, which has grown to become one of the top leagues in the world.”England’s visit to Pakistan for the 14 and 15 October 2021 T20Is will provide further lift to our passionate fans, both in Pakistan and across the globe. The nation has waited patiently for cricket to return sustainably to Pakistan and the 2021 tours by South Africa, New Zealand and England will only ensure international cricket is played uninterruptedly.”The enhanced progress made over the last two years has been down to nurturing relationships with various cricket boards and international players, as well as building trust and confidence.”The ECB’s confirmation further endorses Pakistan as safe and secure. Importantly, this announcement speaks volumes for the relationship that we have with the ECB and I would like to thank the ECB for their strong will and desire to make this short tour a reality.”England’s visit in 2021 is an outcome of the PCB’s efforts and hard work to ensure Pakistan cricket continues to move in the right direction.”
Aston Villa are currently circumventing the snapping jaws of the Premier League's profit and sustainability (PSR) rules but are making headway as the transfer of Douglas Luiz to Juventus edges toward completion, bringing in Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior as part of the package.
Unai Emery has masterminded an incredible rise at Villa Park but has his work cut out this summer, juggling financial sticking points with the need to style his team ahead of a multi-layered forthcoming campaign, where Premier League football will bounce against the desire to impress on Europe's major stage.

Aston Villa transfer news
With Villa fighting to align themselves on the right side of the PSR line before the June 30 deadline, deals are unlikely to be completed this month. But expect the Champions League-qualified side to pounce when free to do so.
Emery hopes to strengthen a range of positions, with left-back a priority. As per Football Insider, the Spaniard is hoping to sign Chelsea's Ian Maatsen to solve that problem, with the full-back enjoying an excellent loan spell with Borussia Dortmund in 2024.
Ian Maatsen for Borussia Dortmund
Maatsen, aged 22, has a £35m release clause in his Blues contract that has dissuaded Dortmund from moving for his signature. Villa, too, have reservations about accepting such a figure but are holding daily discussions to determine whether to advance their interest.
Ian Maatsen's 23/24 season in numbers
Maatsen spent the 2022/23 campaign in the Championship with Vincent Kompany's Burnley, enjoying a tremendous breakthrough year as he won the title and was hailed for his "dangerous" qualities by manager Peter van der Veen.

Returning to Chelsea one year ago, Maatsen played a part in Mauricio Pochettino's sole season at the Stamford Bridge helm but featured only 15 times in all competitions, starting just once in the Premier League, before being loaned out in January.
It has been his stint as a Borussia Dortmund loanee that has truly highlighted his quality and suggested that he can flourish in a prominent position at the height of the continental game, for years to come.
As per Sofascore, Maatsen only featured 16 times in the Bundesliga but scored two goals, provided two assists and completed 89% of his passes.
Once praised for his "exceptional" quality by former Coventry City teammate Simon Moore, Maatsen would be a credit to Villa's starting line-up, potentially even benefitting one of the club's best-performing stars.
Why Villa should sign Ian Maatsen
Called up to the Netherlands squad for the ongoing Euro 2024, Maatsen is fast on the rise, with his exploits since leaving Chelsea in January showcasing the value in forging a career path that will see him playing regular football.
As per FBref, the former Yellow Wall loanee ranked among the top 20% of Bundesliga full-backs last season for goals scored, the top 6% for pass completion and passes attempted, the top 10% for progressive passes and the top 14% for progressive carries per 90.
Technically sound and athletic, he would make a marked impact on Aston Villa's fluency and build-up play, potentially even providing a constant outlet for Ollie Watkins.
Ollie Watkins scores for Aston Villa
Watkins, granted, is principally a striker, but he's been found on the wing more than a few times at Villa and with strikers such as Tammy Abraham being coveted for a transfer, Maatsen could indeed be the perfect new teammate.
The Netherlands international's heatmap in the Bundesliga seared through the page, with his 4.9 ball recoveries per game emphasising the impressive ground-covering style.
Maatsen's regular through balls – he ranked among the top 9% in the Bundesliga – and balls into the final third, again, top 9%, suggest that he possesses the enterprise and dynamics to supplement Watkins with the kind of frequency that will see the England international stands a good chance of emulating his remarkable campaign.
Watkins has been a steady shooter for Villa since signing from Brentford in a club-record £33m deal in 2020. But last term, he eclipsed expectations, racking up an extraordinary tally of 27 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.
Ollie Watkins for Aston Villa
To boot, Watkins could actually repay the favour. He ranks among the top 3% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists per 90. Maatsen loves a goal and could be fed by the Three Lions star's creative style.
With one of Alex Moreno or Lucas Digne departing a strong possibility for the Lions this summer, Maatsen is understandably at the top of the shopping list, offering something different while boasting skills to align with the fundamentals of Emery's system.
In fairness, £35m would be a little steep for the 22-year-old, but given that Maatsen is about to enter the penultimate year of his Stamford Bridge contract, Enzo Maresca and Co may well be convinced to whittle that tag down, should Villa turn internal discussions toward Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine guided Chelsea to Europe after a solid end to 2023/2024, winning their last five Premier League games on the bounce and giving them something positive to build upon for next season.
Chelsea 2-1 Bournemouth
Brighton 1-2 Chelsea
Nottingham Forest 2-3 Chelsea
Chelsea 5-0 West Ham
Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
However, that wasn't enough for high-ranking Chelsea bigwigs Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, who apparently came to a mutual agreement with Pochettino over his exit after just one full campaign at the helm.
Attention now turns to how Chelsea will replace the Argentine, with a few interesting names already shortlisted. Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca, Brentford's Thomas Frank and Ipswich Town manager Thomas Frank are the leading candidates as things stand, with Chelsea looking to seal their new manager by the end of next week.
Pochettino, meanwhile, is already thought to be attracting interest from Saudi Arabia – so soon after departing Stamford Bridge.
"There is genuine interest in Mauricio Pochettino from Saudi Arabia, although no direct approach to him yet in the immediate aftermath of his Chelsea departure," wrote Ben Jacobs on X.
"Unclear yet whether Pochettino would entertain a Saudi move, with other European options likely to present themselves. Al-Ittihad one club to watch. Process has begun to replace Marcelo Gallardo. Ramon Planes and Pochettino have an excellent professional and personal relationship. Understand Ittihad looking to pay a top name up to €50m over three years."
Amidst all of this managerial drama, some reports have still suggested that Chelsea are making serious transfer plans in the background. Indeed, some outlets have even reported that Chelsea are plotting a bid to sign Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.
Chelsea want to seal Bradley Locko deal within weeks
According to GiveMeSport, the Blues have another interesting name on their radar in Brest defender Bradley Locko.
The 22-year-old has started 33 Ligue 1 matches for Brest this season, registering three assists in the process, and this has apparently turned heads at Chelsea.
Bradley Locko for Brest.
It is believed Chelsea want to find an agreement with Brest for Locko within weeks, despite currently having no manager at the helm. The left-back is already garnering quite a reputation in France and would fit the mould of a young, exciting potential future star which Chelsea have repeatedly been keen to bring in.
"An indisputable starter in the Stade Brestois defense," wrote French news outlet Jeunes Footeux.
"Bradley Locko is undoubtedly one of the revelations of this Ligue 1 season, and above all a very big move made by the Breton club."
