A comprehensive all-round performance from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) saw them ease past Southern Punjab (SP) by seven wickets. KP found both their bowlers and batters on song in a comfortable win that takes them top of the table.Mohammad Rizwan had opted to field first, and with arguably the best bowling attack in the league, it was easy to see why he felt confident. Imran Khan and Mohammad Wasim found themselves among the wickets early to stifle SP up front, and while Mohammad Imran tried to hold the innings together, wickets continued to fall at the other end. Shaheen Afridi, who had gone wicketless in his first spell, returned to remove the dangerous Khushdil as well as the stubborn Mohammad Imran, and aside from a breezy 14-ball 25 from Hassan Khan, there was limited resistance from the lower order as SP folded for 152.Naseem Shah gave SP some hope by getting rid of Fakhar Zaman early but, thereafter, KP assumed control. Rizwan’s breathtaking 2021 continued with another commanding, assured anchoring role in the chase, while Sahibzada Farhan took on a more pugnacious role at the other end. The duo kept SP at bay for the best part of the innings in a sensational 136-run second-wicket partnership, and by the time both fell off consecutive deliveries either side of the 17th-over mark, the game was all but done. Adil Amin and Iftikhar Ahmed knocked off the remaining runs to keep SP winless after two games.

Inter are believed to have already made strides to sign the 24-year-old on a free transfer next summer, but the Magpies have the edge because of their wealth, potentially offering the soon-to-be free agent a hefty salary.

Newcastle should be doing everything they can to acquire David’s signature, given his reputation as a massive talent with the world at his feet. He has a superb record at both club and international level, scoring 92 goals in 196 appearances for Lille, as well as 29 goals in 56 caps for Canada.

Meanwhile, former youth coach Hanny El-Magrabi has hailed his brilliance, backing him to become truly elite over time: “I enjoyed coaching the person, not just the player. More classical than heavy metal thus far, Slot's side have been as stylish as the Premier League gets, winning three from three without conceding once in a run that includes a stunning 3-0 mauling of Manchester United at Old Trafford. Even without Klopp, things quite clearly haven't changed all too much when it comes to the modern history of that rivalry.

Alas, Old Trafford victory aside, what has been most impressive is how Slot has transformed Ryan Gravenberch into the defensive midfielder that he was craving at the heart of his Liverpool side. The Dutchman has stepped up for his club and more recently for his country to win over a harsh critic in Rafael van der Vaart.

Van der Vaart's praise for Gravenberch

As the Netherlands held Germany to an entertaining 2-2 draw courtesy of goals from Denzel Dumfries and Tijjani Reijnders, it was one particular pass from Gravenberch that caught the eye of Van der Vaart. The Liverpool man unleashed a stunning half-volleyed pass into the path of Xavi Simons, who failed to convert to hand his teammate what would have been the ultimate assist.

Earning the praise of Van der Vaart, the former Tottenham Hotspur star said via The European Lad: "That pass by Ryan Gravenberch. I actually wanted to go home after he gave that pass because it ain't going to get any more beautiful than that."

The former Bayern Munich man may have finally discovered his best form after a difficult few seasons, and that could leave Ronald Koeman with no choice but to hand him a permanent place in his Dutch side. Of course, the ex-Everton boss didn't hand Gravenberch a single minute at Euro 2024 in a move that he may now be regretting.

The task for Gravenberch is now to pick up where he left off for Liverpool. As things stand, he's set to save the Reds from spending what could likely be over £50m on a defensive midfield solution by handing Slot the perfect option. With Nottingham Forest up next, Liverpool, Slot and Gravenberch have the chance to make it four from four in the Premier League.

Now seemingly closing in on the arrival of Manuel Ugarte, Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention towards beating Chelsea to one particular forward's signature before the deadline.

It's been a summer full of positives for those at Old Trafford on the transfer front. They headed into the window in need of reinforcements all across Erik ten Hag's side and look likely to end it having welcomed exactly that. Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazaraoui, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and now Ugarte should all strengthen the Red Devils in their own right.

That said, Manchester United still might not be done even as deadline day approaches, with defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion once again exposing their need for that extra star power that one forward would certainly give them.

The forward looked likely to be off to Saudi Arabia and Al-Ahli, before they reportedly saw their bid rejected by Brentford, who are hoping that United's interest ignites a bidding war and they eventually receive their £40m asking price as a result this summer.

A move to Stamford Bridge reportedly remains Toney's priority, but in the latter stages of the window, his future still remains up for debate, which could allow United to swoop in. The Red Devils' goalscoring problems were there for all to see last season, but the Brentford star would put those issues to bed once and for all.

"Remarkable" Toney would seal perfect Man Utd summer

Getting one over on rivals Chelsea and signing a solution to their striker problem, welcoming Toney would turn a good summer perfect at Old Trafford. For just £40m, the Red Devils would be signing a player who was only outscored by Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the 2022/23 campaign, before he was handed a lengthy suspension for breaching betting rules last term.

Now ready for his first full season back from that suspension and on the hunt for a big move, Toney is likely to pick up where he left off. That said, the 28-year-old must ensure that he solves the dilemma of his club future in the coming days after being frozen out of Thomas Frank's Brentford side amid such speculation.

It's quite the fall from where Toney once found himself at the club and under Frank, who has been full of praise for the forward throughout his rise to stardom for the Bees.

The Brentford boss previously told the club's official website: “Ivan is amazing in many, many aspects. The way he copes with pressure and distractions is amazing. He’s been scoring goals, performing for the team and driving the team. He’s remarkable."

Leeds United have made four additions to their first-team squad during the summer transfer window, which officially opened for business last month.

Joe Rodon, Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle, and Joe Rothwell have all come through the door to bolster Daniel Farke's options across the pitch, with a centre-back, a goalkeeper, a right-back, and a midfielder added.

One area of the pitch the Whites are yet to make an addition in, however, is the final third as they have yet to pounce on a winger or a striker to improve their forward line.

The West Yorkshire outfit have, though, been linked with attackers throughout the summer transfer window and one of them could be their next version of Raphinha.

Raphinha's magical play for Leeds

The Whites signed the Brazilian wizard from Rennes in the summer of 2020 under Marcelo Bielsa and he hit the ground running at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Across two seasons in the top-flight with Leeds, Raphinha showcased his ability to make a big impact in the final third as both a scorer and a creator of goals.

As you can see in the table above, the South American right winger chipped in with 17 goals and 12 assists in those two campaigns to help his side avoid relegation both times.

Raphinha then completed a £55m move to Barcelona in the summer of 2022 and Leeds could finally replace the magician by landing another South American sensation who operates on the right flank.

In June, it was reportedly in the Brazilian media, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, that Leeds are keen on a deal to sign Fluminense forward Jhon Arias this summer, who had been the subject of a £14m offer from West Ham United at the time.

The 26-year-old ace has only produced one goal and two assists in ten Serie A matches this term but his form throughout 2023 and 2022 suggests that the potential is there for him to be a fantastic signing.

Like Raphinha, Arias is a South American right winger who could provide Leeds with a consistent stream of quality as both a scorer and a creator of goals.

As you can see in the table above, the Fluminense forward racked up an eye-catching 14 goals and 17 assists across those two seasons

in the Serie A – two more direct goal contributions than Raphinha managed in the Premier League.

These statistics suggest that the Colombian whiz, who was described as an "unsung hero" by South American writer Nathan Joyce, has the quality to make a huge impact at the top end of the pitch.

Amid an incredibly busy summer of incomings, Aston Villa are now reportedly negotiating a deal that would see another fresh face arrive in a move that would also see Lucas Digne depart.

The Villans have put their new-found Champions League status to good use in recent months, convincing the likes of Amadou Oana and Ian Maatsen to complete impressive moves to the Midlands. Maatsen, meanwhile, is still just 22 years old and fresh from an excellent loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, in which he played a vital part in helping the Bundesliga giants reach the Champions League final, before suffering defeat against Real Madrid. Given that quality, all signs are pointing towards the former Chelsea man taking the starting role at left-back for Villa this season.

That does, however, cast doubts over the futures of Digne and Moreno, who have both been linked with a move away this summer. The former has even reportedly been used in recent negotiations as part of a swap deal.

According to Aslinda, Aston Villa and NSWE are negotiating a player-plus-cash deal to sign Ernest Muci from Besiktas that would see Digne head to the Turkish giants. With talks ongoing, it could yet be a move that takes place before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

As things stand, the 23-year-old attacking midfielder doesn't seem to be part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's plans in Turkey. The former Rangers boss excluded the Albanian from his side's Turkish Super Cup mauling of Galatasaray, before failing to introduce the midfielder from the bench in Besiktas' opening league game against Samsunspor.

Prior to completing a winter move to Besiktas, Muci was starring at Legia Warsaw and even scored a brace against Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League, sealing a stunning 3-2 victory for his side.

He wasn't done there with his audition in front of the Villans, either, going on to find the back of the net once more in the reverse fixture at Villa Park – this time as his side lost 2-1. If Emery wasn't aware of Muci's quality before those fixtures, then he was certainly well aware by the end of the group stage. Praised for being "incisive" by analyst Ben Mattinson, Muci is a player who can steal the show at his best.

If Villa can offload Digne in the process, then their deal to sign the Albanian attacking midfielder could go down as a wise move in the latter stages of the window. Given his recent position in the Besiktas squad too, Muci could be considering the exit door.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed some joy in the transfer market so far this summer, managing to sign talents such as Pedro Lima and Rodrigo Gomes, while making Tommy Doyle’s loan move from Manchester City a permanent one.

Things are gearing up nicely for Gary O’Neil and his side as they look to crack the top half of the Premier League table next season.

The main question is, can he prevent his prized assets from departing the club this summer?

Wolves could lose one of their best players this summer

Joao Gomes is the man who is in high demand as of late, with several teams showing interest in signing the Old Gold midfielder.

According to Brazilian journalist Valentin Furlan, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all showing plenty of admiration for the former Flamengo midfielder.

He states that Wolves are not opposed to letting him leave during the current window, and they could demand a transfer fee in the region of £50m to do so.

If O’Neil did sell Gomes in the next few weeks, it wouldn’t be the first time they have lost one of their finest players to a member of the Premier League elite, as Matheus Nunes joined Manchester City last summer after a single season in the Midlands.

The Old Gold signed the Portuguese midfielder from Sporting Club in 2022 for a club-record fee, and he went on to make 41 appearances for the Midlands side before being lured to City in the summer of 2023.

While they made a profit on the player, it is not something which the club will want to undergo again, losing talented youngsters the moment they start to perform and showcase their true potential.

Gomes only cost the Molineux outfit £15m in January 2023 and has since gone on to make a total of 49 appearances since then, emerging as a key player throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

Among his teammates, Gomes ranked sixth for key passes per game (0.6) along with ranking first for tackles per game (3.8) in the Premier League last term.

His defensive skills were impressive, and he even ranks in the top 1% when compared to his positional peers for tackles per 90 (4.35) among those in the top five European leagues, showcasing how effective he can be in the middle of the pitch.

It is perhaps no surprise to hear him being described as a “warrior” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig in 2021, as he emerged as a prodigious talent for Flamengo.

Losing him would be a big blow for the club as they seek to improve on a solid debut season under O’Neil.

While they would most certainly receive a substantial fee for the Brazilian, O’Neil’s preference will surely be to keep the midfield dynamo ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, especially if he seeks to break into the top half of the league table.
