Hato has been heavily linked with a summer exit from Ajax, amid reports of interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, the Netherlands international has now insisted that he is happy at Ajax, and that he feels "at home" with the Dutch giants.

Reports suggest Ajax could be willing to allow Hato to leave the club this summer, as he may be at his peak valuation right now, with three years remaining on his contract. Hato has made 111 appearances for the club at the age of 19, and is capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back.

WHAT JORREL HATO SAID

Hato told Ajax's website: “The smartest thing is to look at it per season. That’s what I do.

“Of course you want to achieve things in the end: the Champions League, a World Cup and a European Championship. I still have plenty of time. I don’t think I absolutely have to win the Champions League in two years.

“In the Dutch league you have to show how good you are against the big clubs. Ultimately, I have to continue to develop the things I am already good at, so that it becomes top. How do I describe my time at Ajax? Ajax is home for me. I just feel at home here.”

According to , the Blaugrana have reached a pre-agreement with Williams for a six-year contract that would keep him at Camp Nou until the summer of 2031. The explosive winger is now close to linking up with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, with whom he has built up a strong relationship for the Spain national team. Forming a dynamic new wing partnership in Hansi Flick's attacking plans, Williams is set to earn €12 million (£10m/$14m) at Barca if the deal goes through.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Barcelona’s interest in Williams dates back more than a year. The club initially made him a top target last summer, but the acquisition of Dani Olmo had significantly strained the club’s limited transfer resources, shelving plans for another marquee signing. Moreover, club president Joan Laporta has reportedly been impressed with Williams' determination to wear the Barcelona shirt. Several recent meetings between the winger’s camp and club executives have been held to iron out the framework of the proposed transfer. Williams will be free to complete the transfer once Barca agree on a fee with Athletic Club, who are said to be demanding €60 million for the winger.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Williams has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past two seasons, and his latest campaign with Athletic was no exception. He contributed five goals and five assists in 29 La Liga appearances, while playing a pivotal role in their Europa League campaign, scoring five times and assisting three more en route to a semi-final finish. His performances earned him a spot in the Europa League Team of the Season.

    WHAT NEXT FOR WILLIAMS?

Barcelona’s breakthrough in negotiations with Williams comes at the expense of several major European clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich had all expressed strong interest in the Spain international. Chelsea were believed to be monitoring his situation throughout the season, while Bayern reportedly engaged in talks shortly before their squad travelled to the United States for the Club World Cup. Ultimately, Williams’ preference to stay in Spain and join a project that includes fellow La Roja talent Yamal appears to have swung the deal decisively in Barcelona’s favour.

Al-Hilal just won't quit! Victor Osimhen receives an even bigger offer from Saudi Pro League giants as Galatasaray wait on striker's verdict amid Napoli agreement

Osimhen is once again the subject of a blockbuster transfer saga. According to Napoli's Nigerian striker has received a staggering offer from Al-Hilal: €40 million (£34m/$46m) per year for three years, with an optional fourth, totalling €160 million (£137m/$184m). This would make Osimhen one of the world's highest-paid footballers. Napoli are prepared to part ways with the forward if the €75m (£64m/$86m) foreign release clause is triggered.

The Nigerian international’s future remains undecided. While he previously turned down Al-Hilal’s initial approach, the club have reignited talks. Napoli are eager to finalise a sale to fund their summer rebuild and reduce the wage bill. Meanwhile, Galatasaray, who claim to have an agreement with Gli Azzurri, are growing frustrated with the delay as their own plans hinge on the striker’s decision.

WHAT OSIMHEN SAID

When asked recently in Nigeria about his next move, Osimhen remained coy while speaking in an interview with a YouTube channel: "At the moment I am focused on the holidays, I am resting. We will see what happens.”

He also participated in a charity match organised by Nigeria team-mate William Troost-Ekong, offering no public comments on his club future.

Eddie Byrom's maiden hundred trumps Andy Umeed 116 in two-wicket thriller

Eddie Byrom notched a maiden List A century against his former club as Glamorgan beat Somerset by two wickets in a battle of the Metro Bank One Day Cup Group B also-rans at Taunton. The home side posted 298 for seven after winning the toss, opener Andy Umeed scoring 116 off 136 balls, with nine fours and three sixes. Nineteen-year-old off-spinner Ben Kellaway was the pick of the Glamorgan attack with three for 49.In reply, the visitors made 301 for eight from 47.1 overs, Byrom striking 108 from 103 deliveries on the ground where he launched his county career. Kiran Carlson contributed 75 to a third-wicket stand of 142, while Billy Root hit 74 not out.It was only Glamorgan’s third group win in seven games, while for Somerset a fifth defeat continued a disappointing campaign.George Thomas ensured a brisk start to Somerset’s innings, lifting a six over fine leg off the second ball of the second over, sent down by Ruaidhri Smith, on his way to an attractive 41 off 28 balls.Tim van der Gugten made a much-needed breakthrough for Glamorgan in the ninth over when Thomas was well caught low down by Smith at mid-on with the total on 60.Umeed and Lewis Goldsworthy then put together a century stand in good time, Umeed moving to a stylish half-century off 66 balls, and Goldsworthy lending solid support as they took the score to 173 in the 32nd over. When Goldsworthy holed out to deep square off Zain-ul-Hassan with his side looked set to make well in excess of 300. But Carlson began Glamorgan’s fightback by running out James Rew and Kellaway had begun a telling spell from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End.The young spinner maintained an exemplary line and length to send back Sean Dickson, Umeed and Josh Thomas, preventing a late acceleration and keeping his side well in the game.It was left to Danny Lamb (41) and George Bartlett (35 not out) to bolster Somerset’s score, but it looked no more than par on a true pitch with the sun out.Glamorgan’s initial response was to lose two wickets in as many overs, Sam Northeast bowled between bat and pad by Jack Brooks and Colin Ingram brilliantly caught by wicketkeeper Rew, diving full length, off Ned Leonard to make it 13 for two.But soon Byrom and Carlson were counter-attacking with a flurry of boundaries, Carlson greeting the introduction of J.T.Langridge with a six over backward point in the left-arm seamer’s first over.Langridge’s first two overs went for 28 as the Glamorgan pair took the total to 88 for two after ten. Carlson raced to fifty off 29 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes, and Byrom soon followed, off 38 deliveries, with 10 fours. The hundred stand occupied less than 12 overs as Somerset’s bowlers were put to the sword, not aided by some sloppy ground fielding. It was a surprise when with the score on 155, Carlson carelessly cut a catch to point off Lamb.Byrom continued on his merry way and was on 80 when a shower interrupted play at 185 for three, with Glamorgan needing less than five an over. The rain soon passed and an edge to third man for his 16th four took Byrom to his first List A hundred off 94 balls as Glamorgan closed in rapidly on their target, Root contributing a valuable 44-ball half-century.Byrom was finally bowled by occasional leg-spinner Umeed, his first List A wicket. Kellaway, Alex Horton, ul Hassan and van der Gugten fell cheaply in the closing stages, Umeed finishing with three for 31, but Root stayed calm to see Glamorgan home.

Graeme van Buuren century sees Gloucestershire to victory

Stand of 104 with Anwar Ali helps hosts recover from 142 for 7 against Northants

ECB Reporters Network04-Aug-2023

Graeme van Buuren posted his first Gloucestershire List-A hundred to guide his team to a hard-fought 23-run victory over Northants Steelbacks in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup at Cheltenham.Returning after a month recovering from injury, the South African top-scored with a pugnacious 108 and helped stage a stand of 104 with Anwar Ali for the eighth wicket as the home side recovered from 142 for 7 to make 278 in 48.4 overs.Recruited on a short-term overseas contract, Anwar weighed in with an entertaining 61 to redress the balance after seamer Ben Sanderson had claimed three wickets in 13 balls to make a mess of Gloucestershire’s top order.Ajeet Singh Dale then returned figures of 4 for 58, including a burst of three wickets in 11 deliveries, and Tom Price took 4 for 26 as Steelbacks, who never recovered from the wreckage of 30 for 5 in the tenth, were eventually dismissed for 255 in 48.1 overs. Tom Taylor at least put up a fight, making a valiant effort to turn the tide in a combative innings of 112 from 87 balls, while skipper Lewis McManus contributed 54 to put Gloucestershire celebrations on hold.Signing off from the Festival in style, Gloucestershire have now won their opening two games in the 50-over competition to lay down a marker at the top of Group B.A large College Ground audience of 4,000 roared their approval as Singh Dale and Price cooked up a storm with the new ball, five of Northamptonshire’s top six batsmen failing to make double figures as the reply ran into immediate trouble. Price had Emilio Gay caught at mid-on and then bowled Ricardo Vasconcelos in his next over from the College Lawn End to set nerves jangling in the away dressing room.Singh Dale bowled Sam Whiteman and Luke Procter with the last two deliveries of the sixth over and, although Rob Keogh survived the hat-trick ball, he did not last long thereafter, edging a catch behind to spark pandemonium in the marquees.Only new overseas signing Prithvi Shaw proved immune to the chaos all around him, the Mumbai batsman standing firm and hooking Singh Dale backward of square for a towering six to demonstrate his defiance. But not even he was up to a task of this magnitude, and he eventually perished for 33, attempting to hook Paul van Meekeren and conspiring to hit his wicket.

McManus led a spirited fightback, raising a 60-ball half-century and dominating a stand of 86 in 14 overs with Taylor, only to hole out to deep square leg off the bowling of Zafar with 139 still needed from the final 20 overs. Gloucestershire could still not afford to relax while Taylor remained at large and he went to his hundred via 80 balls, with 15 fours and two sixes. The ninth-wicket stand was worth 105, Northants required a further 30 from 21 balls and Taylor was threatening to steal Gloucestershire’s thunder when Price had him caught at long-off to afford a tense crowd much-needed relief. White was last man out, smashing a return catch to Price and departing for 29.It had earlier proved a good toss to win, Sanderson as accounted for Gloucestershire’s openers in successive overs, teenager Joe Phillips and veteran Chris Dent both playing at deliveries outside off stump, offering catches behind and departing for 11 and a run-a-ball 30 respectively. When Sanderson took a straightforward return catch to remove an out-of-sorts James Bracey for one, he boasted figures of 3 for 20 from six overs and the home side were in trouble at 54 for 3.Van Buuren set about repairing the damage in partnership with the in-form Ollie Price, the duo raising 50 from 52 balls as conditions eased to suggest Gloucestershire might yet attain a competitive total. But there then followed a slapstick sequence that saw the hosts lurch from 105 for 3 to 142 for 7 and hand back the initiative to the Steelbacks. First, Price pushed a ball from Procter to long-on and, encouraged by van Buuren, set off for a sharp single, only to be utterly undone as Keogh’s brilliant pick up and throw on the run scored a direct hit and ran him out for 23.Van Buuren then clipped a ball from Keogh to mid-on and attempted a notional single, in the process taking new batsman Jack Taylor completely by surprise and causing him to be run him out for seven. Tom Price and Zafar Gohar then succumbed in quick succession to Keogh’s off breaks as wickets continued to fall in flurries.Shouldering responsibility for making amends for the run outs, van Buuren eased to 50 from 60 balls and at last discovered a dependable ally in the form of Anwar, who brought his considerable experience to bear.Driving fluently throughout, van Buuren struck 11 fours and a brace of sixes to reach his first Gloucestershire List-A hundred from 93 balls.A wily practitioner of white-ball cricket, Anwar played the supporting role to perfection, raising fifty from 49 balls as the hundred partnership arrived in the 44th over. Although van Buuren was run out by Procter in the 44th over and Anwar fell to Freddie Heldreich’s wrist spin, having helped himself to three fours and two sixes in an entertaining knock that comprised 55 balls, Gloucestershire already had a competitive total.

Gareth Delany, Fionn Hand back in Ireland squad for India T20Is

With Ireland having qualified for next year’s T20 World Cup, selector Andrew White said the wider focus is now to build towards that showpiece event

ESPNcricinfo staff04-Aug-2023Allrounders Fionn Hand and Gareth Delany make a return to the Ireland squad for the T20I series against India later this month. They come in at the expense of wicketkeeper-batter Neil Rock and pacer Graham Hume – these were the only changes to the Ireland squad that featured in the T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier in Scotland in July.Ireland had secured their spot in next year’s T20 World Cup, to be played in the West Indies and USA, finishing in the top two along with Scotland in that qualifier. Andrew White, Ireland men’s national selector, said the idea now is to build towards that showpiece event.”The recent qualifying campaign in Scotland was the first stage of our strategic planning for next June’s T20 World Cup,” White said. “We currently have around 15 T20Is scheduled between now and the World Cup, so it is important that we use each of these to continue to build on areas that the coaching team have identified.ESPNcricinfo Ltd”We only have a limited time between now and the end of the 2023 domestic season, so it’s also crucial that we use what opportunities we have to provide exposure and experience to a pool of players who we believe are in contention for making that World Cup squad. Giving opportunities to players also filters down the series themselves, so I would expect that all of the 15 players named in the India series squad will feature at some point.”Hand is back in contention for the first time since Ireland’s one-off Test against England at Lord’s in early June. Delany was part of the ODI squad that played the 50-over World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe in June-July, but he had to leave that tournament with a broken wrist. Unlike the T20 version, Ireland failed to seal their spot at the ODI World Cup in India later this year after a forgettable campaign in Zimbabwe. The T20Is against India are set to be played in Malahide on August 18, 20 and 23.Ireland squad for India T20I series: Paul Stirling (capt), Andrew Balbirnie, Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Fionn Hand, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Theo van Woerkom, Ben White, Craig Young

Khawaja: Neser is Australia's Woakes

The allrounder’s golden run with the bat, combined with his superb bowling, has him banging hard on the door for Test selection

AAP and ESPNcricinfo staff08-Oct-2023

Usman Khawaja has compared Michael Neser to England Ashes hero Chris Woakes as the Queensland allrounder continues to press his claims for a Test recall.Neser’s heroic second-innings 140 helped the Bulls stave off defeat in their recently completed Sheffield Shield clash with New South Wales at the new Cricket Central ground at Sydney Olympic Park.Neser’s rich run with the bat, combined with his brilliant bowling, reminds Khawaja of Woakes, who was player of the series in this year’s thrilling Ashes in England.Woakes took 19 wickets at 18.15 in the only three matches he played and made critical scores of 32 not out at Headingley and 36 at the Oval to help England win both Tests to square the series 2-2. Woakes averages 27.40 with the bat and 29.13 ball in Test cricket. He has batted No.6 for England, scoring a half-century in that position, and has scored a Test hundred batting at No.7 against India at Lord’s in 2018.Khawaja believes his Queensland team-mate, who has already played two Tests for Australia, has the same capabilities.”Michael Neser has been unbelievable for so many years,” Khawaja said. “A lot of people see him for the amazing bowler that he is but you see the allrounder he is – he bats No.7 for us.”He’s always been around the group with the Australian cricket team just for his bowling, but I think what he’s offering with his batting, you’ve got a guy who can win you a lot of cricket games.”He’s got that ‘Woakesy’ type of thing where he can do both, it’s really important to have. He’s putting his hand up, definitely.”Neser’s fifth first-class century on Saturday was also, remarkably, his third in as many matches after finishing a bumper County Championship campaign in the English summer with scores of 176 not out and 123.The 33-year-old plundered 487 runs at 81.16 for Glamorgan, after averaging 35.70 with the bat and 16.67 with the ball last Shield season for Queensland. Neser’s last eight scores in first-class cricket this year are 90, 9, 86, 2, 123, 176*, 18 and 140.Michael Neser and Jimmy Peirson both made centuries•Getty Images

Neser and Queensland wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson blunted the New South Wales attack on Friday and Saturday, sharing a 200-run partnership after coming together with the Bulls five wickets down in their second dig and still 179 runs behind.Peirson made his seventh first-class century, finishing with 106. He was Queensland’s leading run-scorer last summer with 460 runs at 35.38 and was the only Bulls batter to score two centuries. He is making a compelling case to be considered Australia’s next Test gloveman should anything happen to incumbent Alex Carey.Western Australian Josh Inglis has been Australia’s reserve Test keeper since Carey made his Test debut in 2021. Peirson was called into the Ashes squad temporarily for the Lord’s Test when Inglis flew home for the birth of his child. Peirson has been one of Australia A’s wicketkeepers in the last three A series against Sri Lanka A and New Zealand A, both home and away, and performed superbly in Sri Lanka in particular.”Jimmy’s been scoring runs for us the last three years consistently,” Khawaja said. “He’s obviously pushing his name up for Test selection. He was with us at the Ashes as a reserve, he’s been doing all the right things, he’s a great keeper and a leader of the team.”

Ele exaltou a qualidade no banco do Brasil.
