RODINEI VALORIZADO NO MERCADO

Henry Nicholls faces ball-tampering charges

Henry Nicholls has been accused of breaking New Zealand Cricket’s code of conduct after being reported by umpires for ball-tampering in a domestic first-class match.TV footage of the Plunket Shield match between Nicholls’ Canterbury and Auckland this week appeared to show Nicholls brushing the ball against a helmet during a change of ends.”Nicholls has been reported for allegedly breaching Rule 3.1, article 1.15 of the Code during Day 3 of the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Auckland at Hagley Oval,” New Zealand Cricket said in a statement Friday. The rule “involves changing the condition of the ball in breach of Law 41.3 of the Laws of Cricket”.New Zealand Cricket said the allegation had been referred to a commissioner for first-class cricket. No date has yet been set for the hearing. Nicholls is due to tour Bangladesh with the New Zealand Test squad later this month.Nicholls has not commented on the charge. In the game between Canterbury and Auckland, Nicholls played a leading role in taking his side to an eight-wicket win. After Auckland were bowled out for 217 in their first innings, Canterbury declared their first innings on 413 for 9, with Nicholls top-scoring with 120. He added another unbeaten 30 when Canterbury, set a victory target of 61, got there for the loss of two wickets. It was Canterbury’s first win of the Plunket Shield season. They are currently in fourth place on the six-team table.New Zealand’s leading limited-overs players are in India competing at the ODI World Cup, where a win over Sri Lanka on Thursday moved the 2019 runners-up closer to qualifying for the semi-finals.

BCB pulls up Donald for criticising Mathews' timed out dismissal

But the board is unlikely to take any action because this is effectively Donald’s last assignment with the Bangladesh team

Mohammad Isam09-Nov-2023The BCB has sought an explanation from Allan Donald, the Bangladesh team’s fast bowling coach, for his comments on Angelo Mathews’ timed out dismissal following the World Cup match in Delhi on November 6. In an interview with CricBlog.net, conducted soon after the team returned to their hotel in Delhi, Donald had said “it was disappointing to see” that kind of a dismissal and he found it “really difficult to watch that unfold”.”He could have given his personal views at a later time,” a BCB official said. “He is part of the team management so when the team takes a decision, speaking about it publicly is a breach of the code of conduct. He could have spoken about it within the team or he could have spoken directly to the player. He could have informed the BCB, but not in public.”Donald getting pulled up was an expected reaction from the BCB as a member of the Bangladesh team management criticising the team’s decision publicly has been generally frowned upon by the board.Related

But the BCB is unlikely to take any action because this is effectively Donald’s last assignment with the Bangladesh team. He has reportedly informed the board that he won’t continue once his contract runs out at the end of the World Cup. Donald had been appointed in the role ahead of Bangladesh’s tour of South Africa in 2022.Donald isn’t the only coaching staff member whose contract finishes with this tournament. Rangana Herath (spin-bowling coach), Shane McDermott (fielding coach), Nick Lee (head of physical performance) and Shrinivas Chandrasekaran (computer analyst) will also be out of contract. ESPNcricinfo understands that the BCB has issued letters to some of these coaches to continue till at least January 2. But it is not clear how many of them are retaining their current roles.Bangladesh have two Tests scheduled against New Zealand at home from November 28 to December 10, before heading to New Zealand to play three ODIs and three T20Is from December 17 to 31.S Sriram, who had joined as a technical consultant only for the World Cup, will also end his stint with the team. He had worked in a similar role with them during the 2022 T20 World Cup.Head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe, who had joined in February, and assistant coach Nic Pothas, who came into the role in April, have time left in their respective contracts. Before the match against Sri Lanka, Hathurusinghe had said that the seven months he had since being appointed the head coach weren’t enough to prepare the team for the World Cup and his work would start after the tournament.

Mitchell Marsh ruled out of England clash after flying home for personal reasons

Stoinis reveals text saying: “I’ll be home for a little bit and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup”

Australia’s World Cup campaign has hit another hurdle with star allrounder Mitchell Marsh ruled out of the England clash after flying home for personal reasons.Marsh has flown home to Perth and will not play in Saturday’s clash with England in Ahmedabad. This comes on the back of Glenn Maxwell being ruled out of the clash after suffering a concussion during a golf day on Monday.Cricket Australia confirmed in a statement on Thursday that Marsh had flown home on Wednesday night. “Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh has returned home from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 late last night for personal reasons,” the statement said. “A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed. No further detail will be offered at this time.”Marcus Stoinis is likely to be fit to come into the side having recovered from a minor calf problem that has kept him out of the last two matches against the Netherlands and New Zealand but Cameron Green will also be set for a recall while Marnus Labuschagne is likely to remain in the middle order. Australia will be down to only 13 fit players for the clash with England with Sean Abbott and Alex Carey the only others available in the squad.”He’s flown home late last night: he’s got a family issue going on,” Stoinis said on Thursday morning. “And, like we all know, family is very important. He’s doing the right thing and he’s getting home and he’s seeing the people he needs to see and then I don’t think there’s a timeline on when he’s coming back but I’m sure he’ll do what he needs to do at home and then and then get back. He sent me a message last night saying, ‘I’ll be home for a little bit and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup’ so that makes me smile.”You miss him off the field or in terms of his energy and his personality around the team as much as we’re going to miss him on the field. But you can pretty much see how the team’s going to line up anyway, and there’s bases covered. I joked with him that he just passes the overs back to me now – and thanks for that… We will miss him and yeah, he’ll be back soon. And the train keeps rolling.”Marcus Stoinis is set to return from a calf niggle against England•AFP/Getty Images

Marsh’s absence will also likely mean that Steven Smith will return to his preferred position at No.3. But it is a huge blow to Australia’s balance with two of their most explosive and destructive players in Marsh and Maxwell missing for the match against England as they look to shore up a semi-final spot.Stoinis confirmed that he is hoping to be fit enough to bowl 10 overs – if required – following his calf issue. “I’ll have a big training session today [Thursday], go through my paces. But I think I’m ready to go, touch wood,” he said. He attempted to convince coach Andrew McDonald and selector George Bailey that he was available to face New Zealand in Dharamsala last week, but they decided to delay his return by a week.”There’s been moving parts… it hasn’t been the smoothest campaign and we’ve gone from losing the first couple to now sitting in the top four,” Stoinis said. “There is a silver lining there. It always feels good when you walk towards the finals and boys starting coming back into the team and that sort of thing. We saw it with Heady [Travis Head] last game so it could be our secret weapon.”

As part of the transfer, Ashley Lawrence will return to Lyon after two seasons with the Blues. Carpenter will therefore replace Lawrence and battle with Bronze for a starting spot at Chelsea. The defender arrives with an impressive CV as she has already won the Champions League twice as well as domestic titles with Melbourne City and Lyon. Carpenter also became the youngest woman to ever play football at the Olympics at Rio 2016, at the age of just 16.

  • WHAT CARPENTER SAID

She told the club's website: "‘I'm really excited about this new challenge; it’s a new adventure. It feels like the right move for me, and I can't wait to get started and give my all for this club. I'm very proud to join such a big club, one of the biggest in women's football. Stanway insists the Lionesses are ready to "put things right on the pitch" against the Netherlands after a disappointing defeat to France in their opening game of the European Championship. That defeat means that Sarina Wiegman's side must win to keep their qualification hopes in their own hands, but they face a tricky test against a Dutch team who thumped Wales 3-0 in their opener.

England are, of course, reigning champions, and also reached the 2023 World Cup final, and Stanway insists that she and her team-mates are ready to show exactly what they are made of in what has turned into a do-or-die fixture.

WHAT STANWAY SAID

Stanway told reporters: "What we want going forward is to make actions and stop talking. I didn't want to do the press conference today because I'm fed up of talking now.

"It's time that we focus and we want to put things right on the pitch in order for us to be able to talk. We want to create action from what happened on Saturday and the only way to do that is the game."

She added: "We want the game to come around as quick as possible. We want to make change.

"We've spoken about wanting to be 'proper England' and going back to what we're good at and our traditional style of football — tough tackles and remembering why we're here. Sometimes it's about blocking out the noise and getting on the pitch and getting stuck in.

"I had a message from someone I know that said: 'It is just like a bad night out and you want to forget it as much as possible. Move onto the next one. That's exactly what we're going to do."
