Juventus Want To Sign £20k-A-Week Leeds Ace

Juventus are interested in making a move for Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto this summer, according to a fresh transfer update.

How has Gnonto fared at Leeds?

The 19-year-old joined the Whites during last summer's transfer window, coming in as an exciting young signing with a potentially massive future in the game.

While Leeds' season was generally an awful one, as they suffered relegation from the Premier League after three years in the division, Gnonto was arguably one of the few brights parks. The £20,000-a-week attacker's form wasn't necessarily great every week, but he still scored twice and registered four assists in the league, often looking like one of his side's most dangerous and unpredictable players.

Like so many current Whites players, however, the Italian will now be weighing up his future, with Championship football not something that is likely to appeal to him. It could even be that he leaves in the summer, with a new claim proving to be a worrying one, in that respect.

Could Gnonto make quickfire Whites exit?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport [via Sport Witness], Juventus are keen on signing Gnonto before the start of next season, even though an official approach is yet to be made.

The report states that the Serie A giants were frustrated by Leeds' relegation, as it ended their hopes of Weston McKennie joining the Whites permanently, and therefore getting him off their wage bill. They are trying to use that negative as a positive, though, instead turning their attention and making contact with Gnonto.

The idea of Leeds losing the winger so soon after arriving is clearly concerning, considering he is already a 10-cap Italy international, while still being in his teens. He has been lauded as a "special" player by Michael Skubala, and had the Whites not gone down, he looked like he could be a key figure for a number of years to come.

It is hard to persuade any top-class footballer to stay put when the team gets relegated to the second tier, though, so it would be difficult to begrudge Gnonto a move away in the summer transfer window, especially if a club of Juventus' calibre come calling.

There is always the chance that the teenager could remain loyal, trying to help Leeds make a quick return to the Premier League, but the best that the Whites can realistically hope for now is to get good money for the youngster's signature.

Hibernian Considering Signing 6 ft 2 Colossus This Summer

Hibernian are keeping tabs on defender Morgan Feeney as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.

What’s the latest on Morgan Feeney to Hibs?

According to the Daily Record, Hibs are eyeing up a move for Carlisle centre-back Feeney as Lee Johnson aims to bolster his back line.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the English side this summer, meaning Hibs could secure him on a free transfer, although they could face competition from fellow Premiership sides Hearts and Aberdeen, while there is also interest from League One – suggesting that the Easter Road outfit face a tough battle to sign him.

Could Morgan Feeney improve Hibs?

In the top flight last term, Johnson’s side conceded 59 goals, which was the joint fifth lowest across the whole league, however, they face a big problem in terms of centre-back options ahead of 2023/2024.

The departure of Mikey Devlin leaves Hibs with just two senior centre-backs at the moment and there will need to be a few additions over the coming weeks in order to improve the depth of the squad.

Johnson could secure a reunion with Feeney, having coached him during his spell as Sunderland manager and the 6 foot 2 gem could certainly come in and solve their defensive problem, no doubt about it.

The Englishman made his debut for Everton when he was just 17, and although he didn’t make the grade at Goodison Park, he has played for Tranmere Rovers and Sunderland, before finally enjoying a solid run of matches at Carlisle, featuring 76 times for the club.

The defender played 31 times in League Two as Carlisle secured promotion via the playoffs, however Feeney missed the end of the season due to injury. The 24-year-old did play a big part in the club achieving a top seven spot however, achieving a Sofascore rating of 6.96/10, which ranked him as the third-best player in the squad.

He also ranked in the top five for accurate long balls per game (2.2), interceptions per game (1.3) and clearances per game (2.8) to further underline his importance to the team and Johnson must act sooner rather than later to snap him up ahead of next term.

Journalist Nathan Ridley lauded the player following his injury in April which ruled him out for the rest of the season, saying: “A real shame if Morgan Feeney's time at Carlisle ends like this. He's more than capable of playing in League One.”

Luring him North of the border for nothing would represent a good piece of business for Hibs, and they need to make defensive signings a priority considering just how thin they are at the back.

Burnley: ‘Tremendous’ Star Could Be Next Tella At Turf Moor

Burnley are going to need some attacking reinforcements if they are going to translate their success in the Championship into strong performances in the Premier League.

Vincent Kompany's side look like a strong outfit following their title win but have already lost key attacking outlets, Ashley Barnes and Nathan Tella, with it unclear at this stage if the Clarets' top scorer will return to Turf Moor after his superb loan spell from Southampton.

However, if a deal cannot be agreed with the Saints, who may well be keen to keep Tella given their own relegation to the Championship, then Kompany could find a new version of the 23-year-old in Liverpool's attacking talent, Fabio Carvalho.

Could Burnley sign Carvalho?

According to Football Insider, Burnley are open to both a loan or permanent move for the Portuguese youngster this summer after a frustrating debut season at Anfield, which has seen him muster just 340 minutes of action in the Premier League.

He did register three goals in 22 total appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side but given the array of attacking talent available at Anfield, it was perhaps always going to be difficult for him to earn a regular starting spot.

However, he has already shown his class in the Championship with Fulham, notching ten goals and eight assists as they won the title under Marco Silva in 2021/22, which suggests that he needs regular football in order to achieve his potential.

Klopp has already hinted that the Portugal U21 international, who earns £40k-per-week, could depart on loan this summer, saying:

“I think there is a possibility Fabio could go on loan, but we will see. This was not the best year of his career, his young career,” he said.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth. This very talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations and it didn’t work out. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career."

Could Carvalho be Burnley's next Tella?

Carvalho has already proven himself to be a top Championship player and while he didn't get as much game time as he would have liked at Anfield, a year learning from Klopp will only have helped him grow as a player.

Burnley forward Nathan Tella.

While Burnley would prefer not to be dependent on loan players, the success of Tella shows that Kompany can benefit greatly from the loan market, and Carvalho's goalscoring knack could help to keep the Clarets in the Premier League next season.

Liverpool journalist Paul Machin waxed lyrical about the young attacking midfielder in a recent interview with Football FanCast.

He said: "He's small, he's technical, he's actually quite quick. I think he's a tremendous little player. He's got a great eye for goal, he's got an uncanny knack to arrive in the right place at the right time, in terms of scoring goals."

A nimble forward with goals and assists in his locker, the similarities to Tella are clear, with the Saints loanee also emphasising his ability in front of goal with 17 in the second tier last season.

Therefore, if Burnley can help Carvalho to rediscover his best form at Turf Moor, then Kompany could have another gem on his hands.

Tottenham 35 y/o Manager Candidate Still In "Pole Position"

Tottenham Hotspur manager contender Julian Nagelsmann is still the favourite to land the role in north London, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest news involving Julian Nagelsmann?

The Telegraph have revealed that enticing Nagelsmann to take over at Hotspur Way will come at a hefty price, with Spurs potentially having to pay over £10 million in compensation to hire the 35-year-old.

Nagelsmann, who has been hailed as "elite", is still technically on gardening leave at Bayern Munich following their decision to part ways with the German coach to hire Thomas Tuchel back in March, signifying that he is still technically employed at the Allianz Arena.

As per The Daily Mail, Brentford technical director Lee Dykes has been earmarked as a potential replacement for former Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici alongside Johannes Spors, who has also been linked with the role.

Before deciding whether or not to take over at Spurs, Nagelsmann wants to know who he will be working with in terms of recruitment. The future of Lilywhites talisman Harry Kane is also something he wants assurances over amid interest from the Premier League and around Europe in the 29-year-old.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jones has signalled that Nagelsmann is still the frontrunner to assume the vacancy in north London and replace Antonio Conte.

Jones said: “Ultimately, Nagelsmann still seems like the guy in pole position for that job. “So, unless something falls down with Nagelsmann or one of the parties gets cold feet, he will remain the favourite for the job.”

What issues need to be solved at Tottenham Hotspur this summer?

First and foremost, the future of Harry Kane needs to be sorted out before too long. As per Football Insider, Manchester United view the England international as their 'number one priority and top target' this summer.

Chelsea also retain an interest in the forward and prospective new boss Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be keen on reuniting with the forward at Stamford Bridge as his contract nears its final year at Spurs.

Tottenham have also been devoid of creativity at times this season, which is something that will need to be looked at when considering potential incomings ahead of 2023/24.

Iliman Ndiaye and Kang-in Lee have both been linked in recent times, though it remains to be seen what will happen come the off-season.

Loanees Arnaut Danjuma, Dejan Kulusevski and Clement Lenglet also find themselves in situations that need to be clarified in the forthcoming window, making it a busy time for whoever Spurs' new boss may be.

Fans React As £150k-p/w Star Drops Disasterclass

Fans could not contain their laughter as France thrashed the Netherlands in their European Championships qualifier, with Memphis Depay summing up his side’s performance with an astonishingly bad penalty miss. The forward joined Atletico Madrid from Barcelona in the January transfer window, and has caused anger amongst Blaugrana fans for comments made about the club and former coach Ronald Koeman since departing.

However, Barcelona have seemingly had the last laugh, as Koeman’s return to the Netherlands job saw his side lose in humiliating fashion, with Depay dropping a disasterclass by missing a late penalty in what was a night to forget for the 28-year-old.

His poor penalty was initially saved by Mike Maignan, before the rebound fell to the £150k-per-week attacker, who could not generate enough power to grab a consolation, and fans were quick to highlight how poor his attempt was.

Depay also made an error leading to one of France’s goals, and will want to quickly put this performance behind him, but fans may not be so quick to forget. The best of the reaction can be seen below.

Tottenham’s Pedro Porro quickly earning trust in N17

Tottenham Hotspur's new right wing-back Pedro Porro is quickly becoming one of the most popular members of the squad inside Hotspur Way.

What has Pedro Porro done so far at Spurs?

Since landing in north London, the Spanish wing-back has had to be patient for his opportunity in the starting XI with Emerson Royal impressing in recent months.

But the 23-year-old has begun to show signs of what he could bring Tottenham having provided his first assist for the club on the weekend.

And it seems as if the defender has not been sulking behind the scenes with Alasdair Gold suggesting he has quickly become a popular member of the side at Hotspur Way.

Not only has he earned the friendship of his teammates, but it also seems he has earned their trust on the pitch – none more so than with Harry Kane:

"He's very popular within the squad already. He's a bit like Sonny [Son Heung-min] – he's kind of always got a smile on his face and that immediately kind of brings him into the squad atmosphere and everyone seems to like him.

"I guess it's been about trying to adapt, blend in, get to know the other players, become this kind of member of the squad that they can trust with the ball, and you can see that; Harry Kane especially keeps looking for him with his passes."

What can Pedro Porro bring to this Spurs side?

Throughout the campaign, Spurs have struggled on the whole with a lack of attacking intent from their options at right wing-back which saw them make changes during the winter window.

Emerson has impressed lately, however, on the whole, the Brazilian does not provide much of an attacking threat in Antonio Conte's set-up.

Over the course of the Brazilian's 31 appearances in all competitions this season, he has only been able to provide a return of just two goals and one assist.

To put that into context, Porro has only made four appearances in the Premier League and he has already matched Emerson's assists return for the campaign.

In comparison, this season, Porro has provided significantly more crosses into the penalty area as well as returning almost double the amount of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (via FBref).

It has to be recognised Emerson could still provide Spurs with a useful option given he has proven to be sound defensively.

The Brazilian has offered just over double the number of tackles per 90 minutes in comparison to Porro this season, potentially offering Spurs an option for games they expect to be put under serious pressure.

But to have a player who is finally able to offer a real attacking threat has to be exciting for all at Spurs but most of all Kane who will be hoping for more crosses like the one for his opening goal on the weekend.

Newcastle must sign defender Kieran Tierney

Newcastle United are on the hunt for Champions League football in the 2023/24 campaign and are currently sitting fifth in the table as it stands.

The Magpies have two games in hand on Tottenham Hotspur, in fourth, and would go above their rivals and into the top four if they won those matches.

Irrespective of whether or not the club are competing in Europe’s premier competition next season, Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe could look to bolster the squad by dipping into the market in the summer transfer window.

What’s the latest on Newcastle’s interest in Kieran Tierney?

The Sunday Mirror have reported that the Magpies are keen on signing Kieran Tierney from Premier League rivals Arsenal at the end of the season.

He is said to be open to the idea of moving to St. James’ Park as the defender is keen on regular first-team football and that could open the door for Ashworth to swoop in the summer.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke recently told GIVEMESPORT that the 5 foot 10 full-back would be an “upgrade” on the club’s current left-back options, something backed up by his statistics in recent campaigns.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has usurped the Scotland international this season but the ex-Celtic man did catch the eye with his performances in the top-flight last term.

Tierney averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.93 across 22 starts in the division. The full-back created 0.9 chances per match and won 61% of his ground duels, which shows that he was fairly consistent at both ends of the pitch in creating opportunities for his teammates and winning physical battles for the side.

Dan Burn, meanwhile, has averaged a score of 6.84 and managed 0.4 key passes per match. The giant defender has also lost 59% of his ground duels in the top flight, although the gem has won 68% of his aerial contests, with these statistics indicating that Tierney would be a big upgrade on the Englishman in terms of his defending on the deck and his attacking quality.

Ray Parlour once hailed the £110k-per-week Arsenal defender as an “exciting” player and his 1.1 key passes per game and five ‘big chances’ created in 26 Premier League starts in 2020/21 backs that up, as the left-back has proven his ability to consistently create chances for his team at the top level.

The 25-year-old, who registered 37 assists in 180 matches for Celtic earlier in his career, is also five years younger than Burn and could, therefore, offer more to the club as a long-term asset.

Tierney was once dubbed a “machine” by journalist Simon Collings and the fact that the enforcer has won at least 61% of his ground duels in three of his four Premier League campaigns suggests that he is a monster in physical battles and could be a strong defender for the Magpies.

Add in his age and the huge attacking boost he would give the side, in comparison to Burn, and that is why Ashworth must sign the Scottish battler.
